about. ME
Hi, welcome to my website for INFO 102 Fall 2016! My name is Yin Yin Low. I'm from Malaysia and currently a freshman at the University of Washington-Seattle. I am getting excited to explore in class. Gender and Information Technology fascinates me about the Information Technology (IT) field and its opportunities for women across a range of industries and roles. This class also inspires me about the ability of empowerment - empowering us to rethink what fields and roles are appropriate for which gender and how to become a vital member of an inclusive professional community.
"When I was young, I was very interested in science and technology, and my dad brought home the first computer. By learning to create technology, girls learn to speak up." quoted by Regina Agyare, Founder of software company Soronko Solutions.
Surprisingly, the class went beyond my expectations by giving me opportunities that I would never encounter; moreover, providing me with significant life lessons of how to be successful as a woman in technology. I aspire to become a business system analyst in future. During the four years of my undergraduate study, I plan to take more informatics program and courses to discover more about Information Technology area of study. Besides, I'm proud to have the precious opportunities to meet our guest speakers and INFO 102's lecturer - Laura B. Schildkraut. Meeting these incredible people delivered me confidence that I can also be successful in the tech industry.
